Harnessing the power of the Pearl and Pearl Fractional Lasers, these innovative lasers effectively address signs of ageing and damaged skin by resurfacing the skin and remodelling collagen in a safe manner.

The remarkable Pearl Fusions procedure reduces sagging and wrinkles, requiring fewer treatments and yielding a faster overall recovery compared to alternative technologies.

By employing a pattern of light pulses, these lasers target the skin's surface and deeper layers, ensuring long-lasting benefits while minimizing downtime.

Within a short period, patients will witness remarkable enhancements in their skin, including improved tone, texture, smoothness, tightening, and an overall phenomenal rejuvenation of their complexion.

questions

Is Pearl Fusion available at all Skin Renewal Branches?
How does Pearl Fusion work?

The Pearl Fractional laser uses heat to create tiny holes deep in the skin. The process removes sun-damaged tissue and then stimulates the growth of healthy, new skin full of fresh collagen. The skin is plumped up from underneath, resulting in a fuller, smoother appearance; at the same time, there is a significant improvement in sun damage and other skin imperfections such as wrinkles, sagging and skin laxity. The Pearl Fractional treatment is done over targeted zones to cause deep resurfacing and remodelling of these problem areas.

Pearl Resurfacing is done over the entire face to fully resurface the epidermis, improving the skin tone, texture, and smoothness and promoting skin tightening.

Pearl Fusion is a combination laser treatment consisting of Pearl Fractional (fractional ablative technology) and Pearl Resurfacing (full-epidermal renewal). No other technology can deliver the same single treatment results and patient experience.

Who would benefit from treatments with Pearl Fusion?

Most patients benefit from a full-face Pearl Resurfacing treatment for total skin quality and overall appearance of the skin; however, Pearl Fractional targets areas of significant photodamage. Pearl Resurfacing renews the skin’s collagen. This treatment reduces fine lines, smoothes uneven texture, repairs sun damage, reduces discolouration and gives the skin an overall glow. Pearl Fractional treats deeper into the dermis and is effective on acne scarring and deep wrinkles around difficult-to-treat areas, including the lip, eyes and cheeks.

What preparation of the skin is needed prior to Pearl Fusion procedure?

It is essential to prepare for a Pearl Fusion in the following ways:

  1. It is advisable to have at least 2-3 superficial chemical peels or preparation treatments two months before your Pearl Fusion treatment to encourage increased skin cell turnover and improved recovery. This prepares the skin to heal more rapidly after having the Pearl and exfoliates the dead, built-up skin cells that may “hinder” the laser procedure.
  2. Ten to fourteen days before the treatment, it is vital to start diligently applying one’s pigmentation-controlling (or pigmentation-inhibiting) products as the consulting doctor prescribes to prevent PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation).
  3. As a precautionary measure, you will also be given a course of antibiotics to rule out the possibility of infection.
  4. One hour before the treatment, a local numbing agent is applied to the area making the procedure with the Pearl almost painless. Thanks to the revolutionary scanning device, the Pearl Fusion treatment takes approximately 40-60 minutes to administer.
What results can be expected after Pearl Fusion?

Many patients see improvement after one week. Patients may apply makeup as soon as the peeling after treatment has stopped. This could be anything from 5-7 days. Patients continue to notice improvement for three to six months as new collagen grows and matures in the skin post-treatment. Patients will see a fuller, smoother appearance in their skin, a significant improvement in sun damage, and other skin imperfections such as wrinkles, texture, and skin laxity.

What are the typical areas that are treated?

Pearl Fractional is done on targeted zones as this is the procedure's deepest and most aggressive part. The target zones commonly treated include:

  • Peri-Orbital (Around the eyes)
  • Peri-Oral (around the mouth)
  • Frown lines (on the forehead and between the brows)
  • Nasolabial folds and Marionette Lines
  • Acne scarring on the upper cheeks
  • Pre-Cancerous Lesions

The Pearl Resurfacing is then done over the full face and over the areas treated with Pearl Fractional to give an overall rejuvenating treatment to the full face.

Pearl Fusion cannot be performed on the body or chest due to these areas typically being very slow to heal and recover, and at Skin Renewal, we put the safety and best outcomes for our patients as an absolute priority.

Can Pearl fusion be combined with other treatments?

The Pearl Fusion treatment is best done on its own, but in the weeks to follow or the weeks prior, one can have almost any other treatment.

Once the skin has healed after having had a Pearl Fusion, you can start having any other rejuvenation treatments such as Botox, Filler, Laser Genesis, RF Needling, Carboxytherapy, Mesotherapy, PDT, Peels and HydraTouch Facials. These are also fantastic long-term maintenance options.

How many sessions are needed?

Typically, only one Pearl Fusion treatment session is required for mild sun damage, followed by approximately five days of social downtime. For severe damage to the skin, more treatments (2 – 3 treatments) may be required, but rarely more than three. Compared to other treatment options, Pearl Fusion offers the ideal ablation and thermal energy balance, giving the ultimate full-face rejuvenation effect. This leads to collagen stimulation and more refreshed, younger-looking skin.

Can all skin types be safely treated with Pearl Fusion?

No, darker skin types 4 to 6 cannot be treated with Pearl ™ Fusion. In addition, if there is a history of sun exposure in the previous three weeks, the treatment must be rescheduled. The ideal Pearl patient is a Fitzpatrick skin type 1, 2 or 3 who desires quick results and has photodamage, fine lines, wrinkles or acne scars.

What to expect after Pearl Fusion

Depending on the number of passes given during the treatment, one can expect three to five days of downtime. And following the initial downtime, you may have another 5-7 days of “inconvenience time” in that the new skin may still be sensitive, slightly pink, slightly flaky or dry. Immediately following the procedure, you may feel as if you have a bad sunburn (burning sensation). There is little or no post-treatment discomfort. After treatment, the skin may temporarily appear sunburned and slightly swollen. These effects usually disappear within 3-5 days. Limiting sun exposure and applying barrier cream and SPF to the skin for five days after treatment to ensure a rapid recovery before slowly moving back on to normal home care and maintenance products.

A natural protective dressing forms on the skin to minimize downtime during the restorative process. During this time, you will be asked to apply Vaseline OR D-Panthenol Cream OR a Barrier Repairing Cream and follow a skin care program to help heal the skin quickly and reduce potential side effects. By the second day, redness will begin to appear more brown. On day 3 or 4, this natural dressing will peel or slough off, leaving new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath, and make-up can be worn after day 5 (provided all peeling has stopped). Patients will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness in a short time - all from a 60-minute treatment with only 3 - 5 days of "social" downtime. Remember always to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and prevent any new damage from occurring.
