What is Juvederm Dermal Filler ?

Juvederm  injectable gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected

How does Juvederm work?

Juvederm Ultra injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face.

What are the dermal fillers made from?

Juvederm is a crystal clear gel that is injected into the skin (or for some treatments just under) in small amounts to restore volume and structure. It is based on hyaluronic acid, similar to the body’s own hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Juvederm is non-animal which means that no skin tests are needed and that there is a minimal risk of allergic or hypersensitive reactions.  The unique process that is applied in the production of Juvederm gives the product a great capacity for creating volume, a long residence time in the skin and natural results. What are the benefits  of Juvederm beauty treatment?

The results of a treatment with Juvederm are long-lasting, without being permanent, giving you the freedom of choice to maintain the effect. A treatment with Juvederm will generally last 6-12 months, and with only one re-treatment the effect has in a recent clinical study been shown to last up to 18 months.  To maintain the results in the lips, a re-treatment is usually needed within 6 months.

What are the different Juvederm products ?

• the nasolabial folds (lines from the end of the nose to the end of the lips)are usually treated with Juvederm 24 HV, Juvederm 30 HV
• Lip rejuvenation of smoker’s lines which provides definition without looking overdone to lips which have become thin and wrinkled. is treated with Juvederm 24 HV,
• Lip augmentation for patients wanting fuller, sexier lips is performed using Juvederm 30 HV, Juvederm Ultra 3 or 4
• “tear-trough deformity” (hollow under-eye circles) and  brow-lift treated with Juvederm 24 HV
• hollow cheeks, cheek-lifting and jawline rejuvenation  treated with Juvederm 30 HV  or Juvederm Ultra 4 or  Voluma
• resculpting the jaw line by lessening the effect of jowls and sagging  treated with  Juvederm 30 HV  or Juvederm Ultra 4 or Voluma
• wrinkles of the cheeks and around the mouth  is treated with Juvederm 24 HV,
• perioral area (wrinkles around the lips) is treated with Juvederm 24 HV, ageing hands, décolleté and smoke’rs lines with Juvederm 24 HV,
• Other areas include filling in acne scars, treated with Juvederm 24 HV

How is Juvederm Ultra different form other dermal fillers ?

Juvederm Ultra range contains a built in local anaesthetic to its formula. Now patients can opt for a virtually pain free treatment experience.  In addition there is less bruising that occurs with the Ultra range than with traditional HA fillers.  
The process in the manufacturing of Juvederm results in a high concentration of cross linked particles which increases the longevity of the product so the effects are longer lasting . In addition the cross linked particles translate to a gel which means that the filler feels very soft to the touch once injected.

Can dermal fillers be combined with other treatments?

At Skin Renewal Juvederm dermal fillers are commonly performed at the same visit as Botox .  This is known as the The Liquid Facelift. Botox helps with the upper one-third of the face whereas injectable fillers generally help with the lower two-thirds.  The combination is one of the most widely used and most effective methods of achieving a significant aesthetic improvement within 1-2 weeks time and can be used on all skin types.
What clinical studies have been carried out on Juvederm.
In a study carried out in the US,  292 patients were given Juvéderm  30 HV or ULTRA 3 in one nose to mouth line, and a collagen filler in the other. Collagen fillers are often used for studies where the investigators are trying to see differences in how well they work.
The results of this study showed that 81 percent of patients treated with Juvéderm  30 HV or the equivalent of Juvéderm ULTRA 3  still had a significant improvement in treated wrinkle severity after 9 months; 78 percent still showed improvement at over 1 year. This was the data used to secure US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) approval of the claim that the Juvéderm  family of products last up to 1 year.

Are Juvederm dermal fillers safe?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance; it's actually a type of sugar. So the product itself is very safe to add to the skin. It has been used for a number of medical applications for many years including joint problems, eye conditions as well as skin lifting. Juvederm  has FDA approval .
