Home Dermaroller Skin Needling
What is the Dermaroller ® Concept ?
The Dermaroller Concept is undoubtedly the most highly efficient device for transdermal delivery, and an almost side-effect free concept for skin (facial and non-facial) rejuvenation. The Dermaroller concept is used to improve the signs of aging due to excessive sun exposure, acne scars, surgical scars, pigmentation and wrinkles.Current treatments (creams and facials) often offer poor penetration of ingredients into the skin and occasionally prolonged recovery from more effective, yet, aggressive treatments. A range of Dermaroller devices is available to address these challenges
How does the Home Care Dermaroller work?
A great home exfoliation procedure is the Home Care Dermaroller ® C8 which gently removes the superficial dead layer which can challenge the skin causing whiteheads, blackheads, rough texture and uneven appearance of the skin.In addition to a gentle exfoliation, home products can be “rolled” into the skin to improve penetration of active ingredients which stimulate collagen production and lighten skin.
The cause for isolated skin disorders and inflammation (e.g. acne) often are blocked ducts of the sebaceous glands caused by old and sticky scales of the stratum corneum. The fine needle tips will unblock these ducts mechanically. As the gland ducts are kept open, the pore size reduces significantly.
Many women will experience acne that is associated with the monthly cycle. The cause is a transitional hormonal triggered increase of keratin layers in the sebaceous gland ducts that blocks the free sebum flow. By using the Home Care Dermaroller on a regular basis, about 3 to 5 times a week, the transitional acne will disappear.
The more skin ages, the more the epidermal renewal cycle will be prolonged. The uppermost scales start to dry out and lose their transparency leading to a grayish looking skin. The needles of the Home Care Dermaroller will remove these dead, dispensable grey scales on the stratum corneum leaving the skin with a softer feeling and finer texture
Needles, even at a tiny length of only 0.15 to 0.18 mm have a physiological effect on the epidermis. They stimulate the proliferation of keratinocytes that transform into keratin that finally is rejected as “dead cells” called scales. This cell stimulation in return results in a faster renewal cycle of the epidermis. Keratin scales have less time to age and to become grey.
The microneedles of the Home Care Dermaroller bring an additional benefit to the epidermis: The uppermost layer will increase in thickness by 30% on average.
If the Home Care Dermaroller C8 is used on a regular basis, the epidermis is increased in transparency and thickness, the simple visible answer for youthful skin.
Home Care Dermaroller Procedural Instructions: The Home Care Dermaroller (C8) is designed to be used at home to improve penetration of home care products This device has been shown to increase epidermal absorption by over 1000% when compared to application without micro needling.
The Dermaheal home product or skin product is first applied and then the “rolling” of the product into the skin is begun. The tiny needles penetrate the stratum corneum (top skin layer) and form tiny infiltration channels for a very short while. These channels allow the particles of the home product to slip into the skin. To get the best results the rolling takes place in a star pattern, viz in a horizontal, vertical, and oblique direction with 10 rolls in each direction. The entire neck, face, décolleté and hands can be rolled in this manner.
The Dermaheal home roller is a long term investment in “home” mesotherapy can be used repeatedly over the year for several hundred treatments, Home treatments can be done 2 to 3 times a week without any harm to the skin.
After care cleansing instructions: After rolling, rinse the Dermaroller with hot water and place in the provided container taking care not to lie roller on side as the needles will blunt. The device can air dry naturally if the lid is left off is ready to be used for the next home treatment.
How does the Home care Dermaroller increase epidermal thickness?
In recent research we found out that even the short needles of the Home Care Dermaroller C8 with a needle length of only 0.18 to 0.20mm (0.0078 inch) have a positive effect on the epidermis without any skin care products. Many people believe that the epidermis consists of "dead" skin cells*, but this is not the case. It is the contrary! Especially in the lowest layer, the basal membrane, we can observe very vital processes. In order to highlight and to see what happens in the epidermis with an average thickness of 0.1 mm (0.0034 inch), please refer to the up-scaled scheme. What influence do the fine needles of the home care Dermaroller on the epidermis have ?
The renewal cycle of the epidermal cells is between 2 and 4 weeks. In aged skin this process is prolonged. From research in the laboratories of MatTek™ and Owen Biosciences™ (USA) with the Dermaroller® we know that even short needles influence the cell communication by electrical signals, especially in the basal membrane. Transmitted Growth Factors (TGF) signals stimulate and accelerate the cell proliferation of keratinocytes, basal cells, etc. This stimulation caused by Dermarolling the skin reduces the proliferation cycle and increases the cell production of undifferentiated and differentiated cells. This results in an increase of the keratin layer of 30% and more. The keratin layer is pushed upward and finally forms the so-called stratum corneum. This last layer of skin scales with an average thickness of one hundredth of a millimeter (0.0004 inch) finally forms the first protection layer (barrier) of our skin towards environmental influences.
Aged skin often has a matte, grayish appearance. This is caused by the slowed cell proliferation and the keratin scales building up on the surface. This lack of transparency is the substantial optical difference between young and old skin. These matte scales (1 or 2 layers out of about 20) are removed by the fine needles of the Dermaroller.
Why is important to use sunscreen after exfoliation procedures such as the home care Dermaroller?
So called “Light” Peelings (with lower grade chemical acid) or Micro-Dermabrasion – both ablative procedures - are very common theses days to achieve a fresher look of the skin. Both procedures remove several layers (up to 10 or more) of the horny scales. These horny cell layers are considered to be “dead cells” and have no more function. But this is an erroneous assumption! They are former keratinocytes that only have lost their cell nucleus, but still have a very vital function: They filter UVA and UVB rays! If they are removed chemically or mechanically UVA- and B rays have a much higher destructive impact in the vital lower epidermal cells with possible irreparable skin damage and permanent pigmentation loss. In order to prevent such cell damage and to avoid increased photo-sensibility after an ablative procedure, it is a MUST to apply a sunscreen with a factor of 30 or more for several weeks.
What combined advantages do the home care Dermaroller have?
Increase of the epidermal cells and improvement of transparency. In order to achieve this effect, the Dermaroller may be used only 2 to 3 times per week. Verifiably suitable skin care products can support this effect. The following observations were reported to us by users of the Home Care Dermaroller after they have used it for 2 to 3 months:
1. Reduction and normalization of big pores in connection with a reduction of sebum production.
2. A significant cutback of transient acne associated with the monthly cycle. (We assume that the fine needles carry away excessive keratin and keep the sebum ducts open.
3. A softer and more transparent skin.
