Laser Hair Removal

The branch is beautifully decorated and the staff is pleasant.

I made an appointment with the branch and informed them that this would be my first appointment.

I arrived and was quickly seen. The therapist asked me if I had shaved the area being treated. I informed the therapist that I did not know that I was required to do this. She asked me if I hadn't been told to do this( she came across annoyed at this) I defended myself and informed her that this was my first visit so I did not already know this, further the information i had been sent via email from the branch specifically requested I refrain from all irritative skin procedures and hair removal to preven PIH. I opened my emails to prove this. (Quoted below)

In preparation for your upcoming appointment and to avoid any PIH or adverse reactions, please ensure you stop all use of the below products three days before your appointment:

Retinoids (Vitamin A) – for example, these products Resurfacers – i.e. anything containing AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHA (beta hydroxy acids) Hydroquinone Benzoyl Peroxide (products used on acne to dry it up) Exfoliators such as facial scrubs and/or body scrubs Please also avoid the following (particularly in the area to be treated):

Waxing, threading, tweezing and/or depilatory creams Sun exposure or sunbeds Heat – sauna, steam rooms or similar Please avoid all artificial tanning products if you are performing laser or light treatments. If you are unsure of what to stop, PLEASE contact the branch, to check.

She informed me that 'well you should have shaved, and the e-mail did not say you should not shave.' I informed her that the essence of the article was to stop ALL potentially irritative procedures including hair removal prodedures. I had not expected an agreement about this.

None the less I was given a razor to shave and did so.

The procedure was extremely painful. It felt like I was being burned. I requested a numbing cream and was denied. The therapist believed it would interfere with the treatment. I'm not certain how nerve numbing interferes with hair follicle destruction. I said nothing. Endured the treatment and paid.

On payment the therapist asked me if she should make another booking. I made some excuse as to why she should not and left.

Overall. This is a well decorated facility But lacking in communication, patient comfort and empathy.
