Dermal fillers placed into the following MD Code areas will help lift jowls and strengthen the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system), which is the layer of the muscles of facial expression in their own connective tissue envelope.

The SMAS lies beneath the skin and subcutaneous tissue, and it is one of the most critical support structures for the face and neck. The strengthening of the SMAS and foundation of the face with dermal fillers placed strategically into areas called the MD Codes. These will lift the sagging excess tissue due to lack of collagen, bone loss, deep fat pad loss (destabilising the ligaments attaching to the facial skin), and muscle weakness. Volumising the deep fat pads with dermal fillers lifts these ligaments that support the foundation of the face.

The FOUNDATION CODES; CK1, Ck2, CK4, and T1 strengthen the SMAS and pull the jowls up and outwards. CK3 volumises the deep cheek fat pad in the mid-face and the banana fat pad under the eyes and thus improves deep hollows under the eyes. CK 5 volumises hollow cheeks and lifts jowls.

The CONTOUR CODES; C 1 to C6 feminise the jawline area, soften the marionette lines and jowl area, lift a downturned mouth corner and soften a protruding chin. JW1 to JW5 improves the jawline, jowls and double chin,

The REFINEMENT CODES; soften nasolabial folds, improves tear troughs and softens lines around the mouth; smokers lines and lip augmentation can also be artistically done to achieve "natural "looking lips.

questions

Is the MD Codes treatment available at all Skin Renewal Centres?
What are MD Codes?

The MD Codes system is based on the strategic placement of Hyaluronic Acid Filler treatments to a combination of different injection sites, achieving direct and indirect effects by giving volume and structure to the face.

A thorough face assessment is done through a combination of patient interactions. The assessment is based on the skeletal structure, individual facial muscle movement and desired aesthetic outcomes of each patient. Therefore, even though the same principle is applied, it works according to individual features.

How are using the MD Codes different?

The MD Codes™ is designed to raise awareness that each aesthetic facial unit (e.g. cheek, chin, lips, mouth etc.) comprises subunits that must be respected during the injection. The MD Codes™ subunits are the structural sites that will create or recreate the most desirable natural facial architecture for patients.

By introducing the MD Codes™, better facial aesthetic treatment plans and a more comprehensive understanding of the complexity of the human face are achieved.

What does correcting and replacing lost volume mean to the patient?

In our social and professional relationships, we relate to each other through the messages of our faces. This is how we speak with the world. However, when we turn our eyes onto ourselves we often zoom in on the tiny distractions that we see in the magnifying mirror or in social media photographs.

This leads to a distorted perspective of how we really look.

As injectors, we see this when we consult with our patients. When we ask them what bothers them, or what they want to improve, they usually point to a distraction (e.g. lines and folds) that they see in frontal view when they look at themselves in the mirror or in photographs. However, they are often unaware that this will not change the overall message of the face or how they are perceived by others. Therefore, treatment of this distraction is unlikely to give them the satisfaction with their appearance that they are looking for.

Following the full assessment, the ideal plan is discussed according to the three levels, consisting of foundational changes, followed by contouring and then refinement. This allows for a proactive approach, starting with the most impactful work first. Depending on budget, patients can work on a manageable, step by step plan.
