Husky Rescue

Husky Rescue KZN, based in Cato Ridge, is dedicated to the rehabilitation and re-homing of rescued Huskies. Led by Charnelle, the organisation has a heartfelt vision: to one day introduce an Animal Assisted Therapy Programme that uses these remarkable dogs to support people who have experienced emotional trauma.

The ultimate goal of Husky Rescue KZN is to find loving, responsible homes for Huskies where their unique needs can be fully understood and cared for.

The Skin Renewal Charity Drive 2016

On 23 October 2016, the Skin Renewal team hosted a Fun Run/Walk at Giba Gorge to raise funds and awareness for Husky Rescue KZN. The public was invited to join in, with all ticket proceeds going directly towards:

  • Veterinary bills
  • Food and care for the dogs
  • General upkeep of the rescue centre

Highlights from the Day

The day was filled with energy, fun, and community spirit:

  • A muddy but joyful walk to the waterfall, leaving participants smiling from ear to ear.
  • Everyone warmed up with complimentary Afro’s meals.
  • A relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with our team ensuring all guests felt comfortable.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, we raised approximately R10,000 for Husky Rescue KZN.

Grateful Thanks to Our Sponsors

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors:

  • Fagron – donated R5,000.
  • Rascals Jumping Castles – provided a jumping castle for the day.
  • Giba Gorge – free venue hire.
  • Bravecto – donated leads and poop bags.
  • Photobooth-KZN – sponsored a photo booth.
  • Alan Gaines (Modac) – personal donation of R2000.

Hands-On Support from Our Team

Our Skin Renewal KZN staff rolled up their sleeves and spent the day assisting at the centre with tasks such as:

  • Selling baked goods and raffles.
  • Face painting and entertaining children.
  • Cleaning and replacing hay in dog boxes.
  • Washing and walking the dogs, including the older pups.
  • Feeding the Huskies and sweeping the paved areas.

This hands-on involvement was as rewarding for our staff as it was for the dogs.
