What makes each of these peels and resurfacing treatments different?

Pearl Fusion

This is a combination of two different lasers in one complete treatment, namely the Pearl Laser and the Pearl Fractional laser. This is a two-stage laser resurfacing treatment that addresses the deep concerns, namely the lines, wrinkles and scars, followed by a more superficial resurfacing of all the other concerns, namely discolouration, pigmentation, poor texture, solar lentigines and dull, tired complexion.

Pearl Fractional

In the past, if you wanted to undergo a facial resurfacing treatment, you would have to consider CO2 laser or Erbium Yag laser, which basically vaporise the entire skin, leaving your face completely unprotected, weeping, oozing and at a high risk of infection. With the Pearl Fractional, which is a YSGG laser, we are able to simply remove and vaporise columns of tissue in the skin, leaving some of the tissue intact, and preserving at least some of the skin’s protective function, resulting in a much lesser chance of infection, yet yielding the same results in the long term.

Pearl Laser

Pearl laser is like having a full face, deep chemical peel, but without any chemicals at all. We simply use the Pearl laser to even out the entire skin surface by removing the upper layers of the skin with this amazing device. What makes the result so much better than a deep chemical peel, is again the heat generated by the laser that immediately goes to work on forcing our deeper skin cells (our fibroblasts) to start producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid… all the things that the skin loses as we age. Not only do we have that benefit, but because we are able to remove the epidermis (the upper layers of the skin that you see when you look in the mirror everyday), we can now, during the healing phase, focus on re-growing a brand new, more youthful looking skin.

When we combine Pearl Fractional and Pearl Laser together in one treatment, we call this, Pearl Fusion. The bottom line is this: if you want a brand new skin, Pearl Fusion is your number one choice.

3D Peel

3D Peel series is a 3-in-1 peel system for more advanced skin problems. It is a 3 Layer medium to deep skin-depth chemical peel, and is performed by a trained medical doctor. It is a novel chemical peeling system that allows the physician to address a wide range of common cosmetic skin conditions with great efficacy, safety and patient comfort.

Fraxel DUAL

The Fraxel® DUAL system combines a 1927nm laser with an upgraded version of the 1550nm laser. The 1550nm Erbium Laser combined with the 1927nm Thulium Laser offers both a deep (dermal) and superficial (epidermal) treatment, ensuring a thorough, comprehensive anti-ageing and skin correction treatment.

CO2 Laser

The CO2 laser allows your Skin Renewal doctor to perform skin resurfacing that- reduces or eliminates more pronounced lines and wrinkles and severe sun damage. This is done by removing the deeper layers of damaged skin and stimulating the regeneration of healthy skin underneath. During the procedure, a local anaesthetic is used to relieve any potential discomfort. If the entire face is being treated, alternative methods of anaesthetic may be used.

Endymed FSR

FRACTIONAL ABLATIVE RF targets the patient’s concern from the inside out – deeply and superficially simultaneously. The combination of Fractional Ablation + 3DEEP™ Volumetric Heating technology provides the therapist with the ability to effectively resurface the skin by triggering collagen formation and collagen remodelling within the skin.

So why do we have both of these options?

35% TCA Peels are a bit more intensive than the 3D Peel, and the downtime and healing time of a 35% TCA Peel, come with a bit more discomfort than that of the 3D peel. So for those patients who wish to “take it a bit slower”, the 3D Peel would be the best option. If you’re a little impatient and want maximum results, as quickly as possible, then the 35% TCA Peel is the one for you.

Can all skin types be safely treated with the intense peels offered at Skin Renewal?

Pearl Fusion, Pearl Fractional & Pearl Laser Resurfacing: Skin Types 1-3

CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing: Skin Types 1-3

Fraxel DUAL: All Skin Types

Endymed FSR: All Skin Types

3D Peel: Skin Types 1-3

All these treatments have a downtime period of between 3 and 10 days, but the trade-off for this downtime is that far less treatments are needed to see dramatic improvements.

Who would benefit from having intense peel treatments done?

It would be beneficial for most people wanting to slow down the chronological age of one’s skin (even those with good skin). These types of treatments are performed on patients who want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, repair photodamage and skin discolorations to name a few.

When is best time to have these types of treatments done?

Due to the amount of downtime required for these types of treatments, it’s advised to perform them in the months where sun exposure is at its lowest. Sun exposure can result in pigmentation.

What results can be expected after an intense peel treatment?

One can expect to see skin rejuvenation which improves as time goes if treatment and maintenance is continued. Visible signs such as, improved colour, tone, texture, tightening, brightening and general overall skin health.

Improvements should start to become be visible after two weeks and continue to show over the next 3-6 months.
