As we move through the final stretch of winter, it’s hard to believe how swiftly the year has unfolded. There’s already a sense of change in the air, with longer days ahead and the promise of summer slowly drawing closer. The past few weeks have been especially meaningful for us. In July, we celebrated Skin Renewal’s 21st birthday, a milestone made even more special by sharing it with our incredible staff and the patients who have trusted us with their skin over the years. Twenty-one years of learning, growing and caring, and we are deeply grateful.
This month, we’re also proud to be joining Rachel Kolisi on her Falling Forward Roadshow, a powerful journey centred on courage, resilience and continuing to move forward through life’s changing seasons. In this edition, we turn that same spirit of care and growth towards your skin. We explore the importance of a healthy skin barrier, preparing and caring for your skin around treatments, Dr Maureen’s insights into Carboxytherapy, and practical skin knowledge from our latest blogs.
Here’s to new seasons, warmer days and continuing to grow together.
Dr Maureen Allem,

and your Skin Renewal Team.
Your skin barrier is like your skin’s protective shield. It helps keep moisture in and irritants out. When this barrier becomes damaged or weakened, your skin may feel dry, sensitive, tight or easily irritated. It can also make concerns like acne, melasma and rosacea more difficult to manage.
Using stronger products isn’t always the answer. In fact, when your skin barrier is struggling, certain active ingredients can sometimes cause even more irritation. That’s why looking after your skin barrier is so important. A healthy barrier helps your skin feel calmer, stronger and better able to respond to treatment.

This month, Skin Renewal is proud to be part of Rachel Kolisi’s Falling Forward Roadshow, a deeply personal journey centred on identity, healing, courage, motherhood and rediscovery. Through honest conversations and shared experiences, Falling Forward creates a space for women to connect, reflect and embrace the idea that moving forward doesn’t always mean having everything figured out. Sometimes, it simply means finding the courage to take the next step.
We loved being part of the Johannesburg and Pretoria events, sharing in experiences filled with meaningful conversations, connection and community.
And the journey continues. Next stop: Cape Town on 15 August, where Skin Renewal will once again be there alongside Rachel and the Falling Forward community.
We’re incredibly proud to be part of an experience that celebrates women, their stories and the strength found in continuing to move forward.
Dr Maureen Allem is taking you behind the science of Carboxytherapy in our latest YouTube series, breaking down exactly how this powerful treatment works and why it has become such a valuable part of our treatment approach. From skin rejuvenation and pigmentation to hair loss and more, each episode explores a different way Carboxytherapy can support healthier skin and hair.
Five episodes are already live, and there’s more to come. Watch now and follow the series so you don’t miss the next episode.
What you use before and after a professional treatment can make a real difference to your skin.
- Skin Renewal Treatment Prep Cream helps get your skin ready before treatments such as peels, skin needling and laser. It helps reduce pigmentation and dark marks, even out skin tone and keep the skin nourished and comfortable.
- Skin Renewal Post Procedure Cream is designed to care for your skin afterwards. It helps calm redness and irritation, reduce the appearance of bruising, restore moisture and support the skin as it heals.
Prepare before. Care after.
Simple support for your skin on both sides of your treatment.
There’s plenty to discover on the Skin Renewal blog. We’re exploring the everyday factors that influence your skin, from pollution and oxidative stress to the health of your skin barrier. We unpack why more skincare doesn’t always mean better skin, how professional treatments and medical-grade skincare work better together, and what you’re really paying for when choosing your products.
We’re also taking a closer look at ingredients worth knowing, like Trehalose, and how modern skincare is shifting towards prevention and long-term skin health.
