I'm Dr Maureen Allem, and today we're going to talk about what we can do for one's lips as they get older, but more importantly, how we can prevent them from getting worse as we age. At Skin Renewal, we combine doctor-led care, cutting-edge technology, and a holistic approach to deliver personalised solutions that truly transform your skin. Just what you need, right now. So what I tell my patients: treat your lips and your chest just like you would treat your face. So bring your moisturiser down, do your anti-ageing products on your face, your lips, and your chest, and really don't forget to add skin and sunblock over your face when lifting your chest. Because this part shows all the time, we often wear a lip finish, and as we get older, that's the first sign of ageing, along with the hands. Also, treat your hands like your face, lips, and chest. So, we have a condition called quick returner after that. So they did give away for this, because you have this normal skin in the middle, because it's been protected from the sandbag of skin and the face. And then, naturally, you've got this really bland discolouration of the lip. You know, if you look at that under a microscope, you'll find the skin is very thin; you've got solar elastosis, nutrient loss, skin damage from the sand, and this occurs over the years. You know, constant sun exposure really beats you, especially the UVA rays. That breaks down the colour of the mask when you're doing this. And then you start getting this particular red net of other rays that occur on this poitodermic. So it's not only that kind of damage, but you've also got pigment or pigmentation. And then you've got this particular net of other rays. So how do we treat that? Is that number one prevention? And about 20 years ago, I read somewhere that if you spray a product, that is what aggravates you- the product. And it makes sense, because very often, patients have these preservatives that are very inflammatory on the skin. So they've got the real balm that has all these highly inflammatory particles, being protein, and then also some of these creams, that means moisturising creams with a strong perfume that could also sensitise the skin. And then you get posted information, you get pigmentation. So it's important not to spray your lips with protein, and make sure your skincare products don't have these sensitising fragrances in them. And then once you've got this photodamage, you're never really going to get normal skin back. You can improve it quite a bit. You have to do a combination of treatments. So we first have to, if you skint out one, two, three, you have to get the red on the brown after that. We do it with IPL treatments because it gives you background brightness and pigmentation. And then you combine it with our RF Microneedle. Because the RF Microneedle is going to penetrate deeper, improve the basal lamina, and improve solar elastosis, this abnormal skin, and improve the structure of the skin, and improve the basement membrane between the ichidermis and the dermis, and, I know it sounds a bit to be true, but also improve those fluorescent zombie cells in the skin that are causing havoc with your fibroblasts that make collagen and elastin, with the melanocytes that make melanin, and then with the retinocytes that make the thin skin, if that's part of your ichidermis. RF microneedling is great for repairing the basement membrane between the ichidermis and the dermis. It can kickstart and destroy those zombie cells that are causing havoc in the skin. It also stimulates collagen and elastin to thicken the skin. The beauty of some RF Microneedle procedures is that they use non-utilised needles. During the treatment, the heat from each needle shrinks the veins around it, which can also help with those little spider veins and, like, the chicken of taffy you're seeing on your nose. And RF Microneedle is great for crepey skin. You know, skin that comes all crinkly. But that's the RF Microneedle sunscreen. I mean, if you have a lot of sagging with that volume and that double chin, that's where the normal RF treatments, regular frequency treatments, come in. Because that does very little for tightening of the skin. So, RF microneedling and RF microneedling, the ribbon brown discolouration of the skin.
