The Piruvex peel combines Pyruvic acid and Lactic acid which renews the skin by lifting dead cells off the surface and stimulating proliferation of the cells in the basal layer underneath, resulting in a healthier living zone of the skin. With a series of Piruvex Peels you can quickly achieve substantial improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles, while making your skin look and feel softer, smoother, and more radiant. Acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and photo aging may become greatly improved.

This peel has been specifically designed for the treatment of wrinkles, photo aging and skin rejuvenation.
Please note that all exfoliation treatments make your skin more sensitive to the sun thus a sunscreen of SPF# 30 should be used daily, and sun exposure avoided

This would be dependent completely on the patient’s needs and based on the doctor’s analysis of the patient’s needs. But any patient who is concerned about the texture of their skin, specifically with the appearance of lines and wrinkles, are indicated for this peel. Sun damage and uneven skin tone would also be a good indication for this peel. However, the peel must be prescribed by one of our doctors and may also require the patient to start using products such as Lamelle’s Dermaheal range or brighter concentrate in order to really get the very best results.

The patient needs to be prepared with a good homecare regime (Such as Dermaheal or Skin Medica). Hydration is vitally important. Since each patient’s needs are different, it would be best for the patient to come and see one of our doctors first to get the products best suited for their needs, which will then prepare them for the peel.

Within a week of having the peel, one will most certainly see an improvement in skin colour and texture. It is important to note that this is not a once-off treatment and to get the full benefits of this peel (and to affect wrinkles) a series of treatments is essential. This peel can be performed every 2 weeks for a period of 12 weeks in order to get optimum results.

Immediately after the peel, the skin will appear quite pink and in some cases, the skin may feel “itchy”. Within about 3 days, you will start to flake for about 5 days (in some cases, the flaking may take a few days longer). Most flaking will appear on the areas where there is the most damage.

The Piruvex peel is excellent for all skin types; however, we do take special precautions in treating skin types 5 & 6 as these particular skin types have a tendency to be more sensitive to peels. The Piruvex Peel resurfaces and rejuvenates skin, producing excellent results in treating photoaging and wrinkles (as well as affecting skin colour and texture in general). (Peeling the face, neck, upper chest, hands and arms is also quite effective.)
