I had my first treatment at the Fourways branch last year in October. Whenever the Skin Renewal training team and I decide to introduce any new treatments at Skin Renewal, I am always the first to try the new treatment out to ensure we can deliver results for our patients. I was interested to see if this Vampire Facial could make a difference to the overall texture of my skin. A few weeks after the initial treatment I started receiving numerous compliments about my skin and thus the decision to introduce the DrPRP treatment in the new year was a no-brainer.I jumped at the chance to be the model for the doctor's training of PRP and thus was fortunate enough to receive a second treatment. Three weeks post my second treatment, our training team at Skin Renewal insisted that we take before and after photos to compare the results of the 2 Vampire Facial treatments. We took follow up photos today and we were all amazed at the difference in the texture and clarity of my skin. I have been a client of the Skin Renewal Institute since the beginning of this Year and have never looked back. The attention to detail and the warm, friendly faces of the entire Skin Renewal team makes you feel instantly at home. I have had the pleasure of my treatments for aging and acne done by Dr Maureen Allem. She is literally Wonder Women. When it comes to Acne, she treats you from the inside out and I have been noticing amazing results over time. I have had Restylane under eye fillers in the tear trough area and Princess volume done on the outer corners of my eyes. They have filled up nicely and I don’t have that tired & exhausted look about me anymore which I have always tried to cover up with makeup. The procedure stung a bit, was not uncomfortable and I did not require a topical aesthetic at all. A follow up visit is required to access the area once fillers are done. The radiance peel for acne and scarring is definitely a must, and when Lourita Louw is done with you, your face will literally glow. I have done 3 treatments so far and have noticed significant improvement with texture and scarring. I am wearing less makeup during the day and have skipped base all together. The Health Renewal part of the clinic is worth every penny spent. Forget cocktails at the bar, how about one that actually benefits you in a number of ways. Dr Maricia is definitely the one to see when it comes to this. She is the holy grail of all things cocktails when it comes to IV infusion health. The IV infusions are painless and she is really gentle when it comes to the needle which I appreciate, seeing as I hate needles. Whatever your concern, visiting the Skin Renewal Pineslopes branch is definitely worth the consult.
The branch is beautifully decorated and the staff is pleasant. I made an appointment with the branch and informed them that this would be my first appointment. I arrived and was quickly seen. The therapist asked me if I had shaved the area being treated. I informed the therapist that I did not know that I was required to do this. She asked me if I hadn't been told to do this( she came across annoyed at this) I defended myself and informed her that this was my first visit so I did not already know this, further the information i had been sent via email from the branch specifically requested I refrain from all irritative skin procedures and hair removal to preven PIH. I opened my emails to prove this. (Quoted below) "Dear Phindi, In preparation for your upcoming appointment and to avoid any PIH or adverse reactions, please ensure you stop all use of the below products three days before your appointment: Retinoids (Vitamin A) – for example, these products Resurfacers – i.e. anything containing AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHA (beta hydroxy acids) Hydroquinone Benzoyl Peroxide (products used on acne to dry it up) Exfoliators such as facial scrubs and/or body scrubs Please also avoid the following (particularly in the area to be treated): Waxing, threading, tweezing and/or depilatory creams Sun exposure or sunbeds Heat – sauna, steam rooms or similar Please avoid all artificial tanning products if you are performing laser or light treatments. If you are unsure of what to stop, PLEASE contact the branch, to check. Kind Regards, Skin Renewal" She informed me that 'well you should have shaved, and the e-mail did not say you should not shave.' I informed her that the essence of the article was to stop ALL potentially irritative procedures including hair removal prodedures. I had not expected an agreement about this. None the less I was given a razor to shave and did so. The procedure was extremely painful. It felt like I was being burned. I requested a numbing cream and was denied. The therapist believed it would interfere with the treatment. I'm not certain how nerve numbing interferes with hair follicle destruction. I said nothing. Endured the treatment and paid. On payment the therapist asked me if she should make another booking. I made some excuse as to why she should not and left. Overall. This is a well decorated facility But lacking in communication, patient comfort and empathy.
